There’s nothing quite like throwing the windows open on a warm evening — right up until the first fly does a lap of the kitchen. Our made-to-measure fly screens for windows solve that problem properly: fresh air in, insects out, no chemicals, no swatting. Every screen is manufactured here in the UK to your exact sizes, from high-quality components designed to give years of trouble-free use in your home or business.
Which fly screen suits your window?
The right screen depends less on the insects and more on the window itself — how it opens, how often you use it, and whether you want the screen there all year round. Roller fly screens retract neatly into a slim cassette when not in use, making them the popular choice for kitchens and living rooms where you’d rather not see the screen in winter. Magnetic fly screens lift on and off in seconds without tools — ideal for seasonal use or windows you need regular access to. Hinged panel screens swing open like a small door, which is handy for windows you reach through, such as above a kitchen sink.
For larger openings, our horizontal sliding and vertical sliding fly screens glide across the opening on track systems. And if you’d rather skip the assembly altogether, our ready assembled panel screens and ready assembled screens with subframe arrive built to your measurements, ready to fix in place.
Insect screens for sash, UPVC, Velux and every other window
Windows come in all shapes and vintages, and we’ve screened most of them over the past 30 years. Our window screens suit hinged casements, centre pivot, sash windows, tilt and turn, UPVC, timber, aluminium and conservatory windows — and because everything is made to measure, awkward sizes are no more trouble than standard ones. Our commercial range is also ideal for busy kitchens and food preparation areas, where all of our products carry Food Standards Agency approval.
The frame profiles are aluminium, so the screens are equally at home fitted inside or outside. Each frame is finished in a UV-stabilised polyester coating that resists chipping and fading and wipes clean easily — a screen you fit once and forget about, rather than replace every couple of summers.
Choosing the right insect mesh
The mesh does the real work, so it pays to pick the right one. Our standard mosquito mesh, available in three colours, handles flies, wasps and mosquitoes and is the right choice for most homes. If you’re plagued by smaller biting insects — midges in particular — step up to our fine midge mesh, which has a tighter weave that stops them getting through. Pollen mesh filters out a substantial amount of airborne pollen, something we can vouch for personally: one of us is a lifelong hay fever sufferer, and it genuinely helps. And our pet mesh is a heavier-duty weave that stands up to claws — though in the interests of honesty, no mesh yet invented will stop a truly determined cat. You can compare all the options on our insect mesh page, and every product page lets you specify your mesh and get an instant price.
Pre-cut kits, ready assembled or fully fitted
We supply our window fly screens three ways, depending on how hands-on you’d like to be. Bespoke pre-cut kits arrive cut to your sizes with no sawing required — just straightforward assembly with everyday tools. Ready assembled screens come built and ready to fix in place. And if you’d rather leave it to us entirely, we offer a full measuring and fitting service. Because we manufacture everything ourselves in the UK, there are no reseller markups, and even bespoke screens ship quickly.

Frequently asked questions
Can fly screens be fitted to any type of window?
Almost certainly, yes. Because our screens are made to measure, we can supply them for sash, casement, tilt and turn, centre pivot, UPVC, timber and conservatory windows. The style of window usually determines which screen type works best — if you’re unsure, send us your window details and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Will a fly screen stop midges?
Standard mosquito mesh stops flies, wasps and mosquitoes, but midges are smaller customers. For those you’ll want our fine midge mesh, which has a tighter weave designed specifically to keep them out — worth it if you’re anywhere midges gather in numbers.
Can the screens be fitted outside?
Yes. The aluminium frames and UV-stabilised coating are fully weatherproof, so the screens can be installed internally or externally without fading, chipping or corroding.
Do I need to be good at DIY to install one?
Not especially. Our pre-cut kits need no cutting — everything arrives sized and ready to assemble with basic tools. If you’d rather not assemble anything, choose a ready assembled screen, or let our team measure and fit it for you.
Will a fly screen block my light or view?
Far less than you’d expect. The mesh is fine enough that light and airflow pass through freely, and from a normal viewing distance it’s barely noticeable. Retractable roller screens disappear into their cassette entirely when not in use.
Are your fly screens suitable for commercial kitchens?
Yes — all of our products are approved by the Food Standards Agency, making them suitable for commercial kitchens, food preparation areas and other business premises that need to comply with food hygiene regulations.
