Heavy-Duty Fly Screen Doors for Commercial Kitchens
A busy kitchen door gets kicked open by staff carrying trays, pushed by trolleys and opened hundreds of times a shift.
A standard fly screen doesn’t last long at that. Our commercial heavy-duty doors are built for it.
The 50 × 15mm aluminium frame has mitred corners riveted to internal strengtheners. A mid push bar adds strength across the middle, and a base kick plate takes the knocks instead of the mesh.
How it works
Grade 304 stainless steel mesh sits behind a diamond metal grille. The grille protects the mesh from wear and makes the door much harder to get through than a standard screen.
Add an internal shoot bolt and the door can’t be opened from outside.
The self-closer shuts the door behind you at a speed you set with one small screw. When you need it open, a slip collar holds it in place.
A brush strip along the base closes the gap under the door.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these doors suitable for busy restaurant kitchens?
Yes, that’s what they’re built for. The 50 × 15mm frame is riveted at the corners, the kick plate takes the knocks when staff push the door open with a foot while carrying trays, and the self-closer shuts it behind them so nobody has to remember to.
Will the door keep flies out?
Yes. The stainless steel mesh has a 1.29mm aperture, small enough to keep out flies and wasps, while its 65.78% open area keeps the air moving. The brush strip along the base closes the gap under the door.
How is this different from the standard commercial fly screen door?
The standard door uses charcoal mosquito mesh. The heavy-duty door uses Grade 304 stainless steel mesh behind a diamond metal grille, which protects the mesh from wear and makes the door much harder to get through. An internal shoot bolt can also be retrofitted.
Can the door be secured from the inside?
Yes. Retrofit an internal shoot bolt so the door can’t be opened from outside, and the diamond metal grille prevents anyone from reaching through the mesh panel.
Do I need the subframe?
Only if your door handle would stop the screen door closing flat. The subframe builds your existing door frame out by 50mm so the fly screen door closes proud of most popular door handles. If you order one, give us the subframe’s overall size and we’ll make the door to suit.
Can the door be taken off for cleaning?
Yes. Pull the hinge pins out and the door lifts straight off, for cleaning or for storing over winter.
