Aluminium chain fly screens are a practical, hard-working solution for keeping insects out while letting fresh air and foot traffic flow freely. Designed for busy doorways, they’re especially popular in commercial and high-use environments where traditional fly screens just don’t cut it.
In short: aluminium chain fly screens are tough, low-maintenance, and highly effective at reducing flies—without blocking airflow or slowing you down. A simple solution that works hard where it matters most.
How will the door arrive?
The chain fly screens are supplied ready assembled and arrive at our standard height of 2200mm.
Our screens are designed for easy adjustment to ensure a perfect fit:
Width: Your screen will arrive at the width ordered.
Height: Easily remove links with a screwdriver to adjust the height to your desired length once you have hung the door.
Each set comes complete with pan head screws and brackets, allowing you to choose the hanging method that works best for your door.
For wider openings, the additional width will arrive as a separate piece, so for example, if you needed a door 1500mm wide, you would receive one section of 1000mm and another of 500mm to make the total 1500mm width.
To order, simply input the total width required, and the chains will come with the required hanging brackets.
Are there any differences in Chain quality?
Yes, you will find that the cheaper the screen then the lighter the actual chain wire will be. The diameter of the chain can vary from less than 1mm to 1.8mm resulting in less weight which will allow flies to enter as the chains move around more freely. The price of a chain fly screen is largely determined by the weight of the aluminium used in its construction. Lower-priced chain fly screens are typically made with lighter aluminium, which can reduce their effectiveness in preventing flies and other insects from entering. Also to be totally rustproof they need to be properly anodised, again most cheaper options aren’t fully anodised, but this will only show over time.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of using chain link fly screens?
A fly screen chain curtain offers a smart balance of protection, airflow, and convenience. The hanging aluminium chains create a moving barrier that insects avoid, while still allowing people, trolleys, and staff to pass through easily—no doors to open, no hands required. They won’t tear like mesh and require very little maintenance. On top of that, they have a clean, industrial look that suits both modern homes and commercial spaces.
Are aluminium chain fly screens durable for commercial use?
Absolutely. Aluminium chain fly screens are built for durability. The aluminium links are corrosion-resistant, weather-tough, and designed to withstand constant use without fraying or breaking. That makes them ideal for restaurants, cafés, warehouses, shops, and food prep areas where doors are opening all day long. They’re a long-term solution that continues to perform even in demanding environments.
Do chain fly screens keep flies out?
Yes—very effectively. While not a sealed barrier, the weight and movement of the aluminium chains deter flies and other insects from entering. As the chains gently move and create a visual and physical obstacle, flies are far less likely to pass through, helping maintain cleaner, more hygienic indoor spaces.
