Insect Screens for Marks and Spencers

The site

New multi million pound Marks and Spencers distribution complex at Castle Donnington

The problem

The new M&S distribution depot at Castle Donnington has been built on reclaimed land and is surrounded by marsh land and vegetation which has resulted in the restaurant and offices attracting all the local flies which included mosquitoes. The problem was made worse as the operation is 24 hours so the lighting in the evening attracted even more flies to the building. This resulted in staff being bitten whilst working, and on their breaks, so we were approached to come up with a solution to alleviate this problem with our commercial fly screens

bespoke roller fly screens

The solution

Our roller fly screen system was chosen for the opening windows as it offered the versatility of keeping the flies out in summer and being almost invisible when retracted, and our company could offer the facility to paint match the screens as the window frames in the new building had been finished in a grey RAL9007 and Marks and Spencer’s wanted the fly screens to match them. We arranged the colour match for the roller fly screens and supplied and installed them resulting in the areas now being fly free.
